Bringing Holiday Magic to Life for Houston Students

The Daisie Foundation and the Houston Police Department-Greater Houston Police Activities League host their annual Holiday Magic event to surprise over 500 students.

The Daisie Foundation (DF) exists to empower women and children in underserved communities. Since its founding in 2016, DF has dedicated its time providing opportunities to Chicago, Milwaukee, and Houston neighborhoods in need of support, guidance, and ultimately love. The work is rooted in random acts of kindness. Houston Police Department/GHPAL actively recruits youth ages 8-18 and adult volunteers to participate in athletic, educational and mentoring activities. They are committed to a mission of reducing juvenile crime and violence.

This holiday season, DF and GHPAL-Houston Police Department will carry out their 3rd annual Holiday Magic event in Houston at Young Elementary School on December 5th, 2023. The event will consist of surprising 500 deserving students with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, gift giving with help from the elves, and a holiday-themed dance party! Dominos will be providing lunch for all students. Gatlin’s Fins and Gatlin’s BBQ will also be honoring 80 teachers and staffers with a special catered luncheon. By the end of the holiday season, DF will have surprised 2,200 students and 420 teachers and staffers throughout Houston, Chicago, and Milwaukee.

Here’s what Principal Sandee Davis of Osborne Elementary School had to say about last year’s event: “The Sponsors and Special Guests set a true example of graciousness with their generous donation’s, gifts, food, and fun to each of our students and staff members. Your loving spirit and thoughtfulness to the Osborne Family was the missing piece that we needed to brighten our Holiday Spirits.

Sponsors for this year’s event include: Dominos Pizza, Houston Astros, Post Oak Hotel, Reliant, Houston Police Credit Union, Abbvie, Gatlin’s Fins &Feathers, Gatlin’s BBQ, Albemarle, Shiraleah, Pink Pewter, Raising Canes, Benefit Cosmetics, Wantable, Visible Changes, Lite Marquee, and Daisie Project.
