Celebrating 10: A Special Wish Comes to Life at Langston Hughes Elementary School
A wish became reality at Langston Hughes Elementary School in Chicago as the Daisie Foundation delivered the first school wish of its Celebrating 10 initiative, marking 10 years of compassion, service, community, and impact.
In honor of the Daisie Foundation’s 10th anniversary, Celebrating 10 is granting wishes for 10 schools across Chicago, Houston, and Milwaukee. School principals were invited to share wishes reflecting meaningful needs within their school communities, with the Daisie Foundation working alongside partners to help bring selected wishes to life.
At Langston Hughes Elementary School, Principal Kimbreana Taylor-Goode shared a vision for completely transforming the school’s Snoezelen Room—a dedicated sensory space designed to provide students with a calming and supportive environment.
With generous support from Molina Healthcare of Illinois, the vision became a reality.
The room underwent a complete transformation into a sensory-rich environment where students can decompress, regulate, feel supported, and prepare to return to learning. From specialized sensory features to the thoughtful design of the space, every detail was created with the students who will use the room in mind.
While Principal Goode was part of the planning, the completed room remained a surprise for the Langston Hughes students, teachers, and staff. The Daisie Foundation and its partners had the opportunity to reveal the transformed space to the school community and see their reactions as they experienced the room for the first time.
This special wish was made possible through the support of Molina Healthcare of Illinois and the collaboration of Dani Brazee, Tammy Lackland, Amazing Sensory Designs, and David Mays, whose collective efforts helped turn the school’s vision into a lasting resource for its students.
Langston Hughes represents the first of 10 school wishes being granted through Celebrating 10—and an inspiring beginning to a year focused not only on reflecting on the past decade, but continuing to invest directly in the communities we serve.
