Holiday Magic event to surprise over 500 students in Chicago’s Roseland community
The Daisie Foundation (DF) exists to empower women and children in communities with socio-economic challenges. Since its founding in 2016, DF has dedicated their time to Chicago, Milwaukee, and Houston neighborhoods that need support, guidance, and ultimately love to get through each and every day. This holiday season, DF is partnering with Meijer, Molina Healthcare, and a host of other sponsors to carry out their 8th annual Holiday Magic event at Langston Hughes Elementary in Chicago on December 11th, 2024. The event will consist of surprising 500 deserving southside students with a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus, The Grinch, gift giving with help from the elves, and a holiday-themed dance party! Panera will be providing lunch for all students and over 100 teachers and staffers. Since Holiday Magic’s inception, DF has been able to surprise over 13,000 students in 24 schools.
Here’s what Principal Nikita Horn of Howe School of Excellence had to say about last year’s event: “ As you know, we are located in a low socio-economic area and some of our students may not have experienced Christmas the way we would have liked. They will always remember this day and the love and kindness that was showered upon them. The staffwill remember the excitement and joy that was reflected in our students’ eyes and faces. It means the world to us to see our babies loved on. You all made that happen with your Holiday Magic.”
Sponsors for this year’s event include: Meijer, Molina Healthcare, Old National Bank, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, ComEd, Benefit Cosmetics, Shiraleah, Penske, Kraft Heinz Foods, Panera Bread, Frito Lay, Raising Cane’s, Banana Republic Factory, Hyatt Place Chicago – Medical/University District, Hyatt House Chicago – Medical/University District, Daisie Project, Campbell’s, Wantable, Serve U Success and Reyes Coca Cola Bottling Company.
