In honor of Mother’s Day, 200 will receive lunch and special gifts
The Daisie Foundation (DF) exists to empower women and children in underserved communities. Since its founding in 2017, DF has dedicated their time to Houston, Chicago, and Milwaukee neighborhoods that need support, guidance, and ultimately love to get through each and every day. This Mother’s Day, as part of the Foundation’s Random Acts of Kindness Initiative, DF is partnering with one of Houston’s largest health systems- Harris Health System- and a host of other generous sponsors- to surprise 200 first responding mothers. In light of the strength of mothers and all that first responders have faced throughout the pandemic, the Daisie Foundation is proud to celebrate those who put others’ needs before their own.
The surprises will take place at two different locations, beginning at Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and finishing at Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital (see schedule below). Recipients will receive breakfast provided by the McDonald’s Smith Organization, and custom Mother’s Day gifts from Shiraleah. In addition to Houston, DF has surprised a total of 500 mothers throughout Milwaukee and Chicago this week alone.
“Staying true to our purpose to spread joy, we aim to make this a special day for first responders and mothers, all of whom make sacrifices for work, their families, and their communities,” says Daisie Foundation Executive Board President Julie Hightower.

- 8:00-8:20 a.m.: Surprise Moms of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital

- Media: Please pull into the last hospital entrance, to your right, off of
- Kelley street. Go past the Emergency Center and you will see a parking lot to your right. You will go through the gate to your right. This is an employee entrance. You will have to push the call button so Security can let you in. They will be notified. Pull forward and you will see us waiting outside to the right, building side. You can park in any space not marked reserved.
- 9:00-9:20 a.m.: Surprise Moms of Ben Taub Hospital
- 1504 Ben Taub Loop, Houston, TX 77030
- Media: Please use TMC entrance #22 off of Cambridge Street and onto
- Lamar Fleming Street. Please park along the curb on the park side. We will meet outside the emergency center ambulance bay, taking note to stay out of the way of active ambulance/patient traffic.
