Daisie Foundation to Honor 700 Deserving Moms

Daisie Foundation to Honor 700 Deserving Moms During Mother’s Day Week with Random Acts of Charity in Chicago’s Austin, Englewood, and Humboldt Park Communities.

This year, the Daisie Foundation is adapting its annual series of Mother’s Day focused charity events to respond to the extraordinary circumstances of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On Wednesday, May 6, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Foundation will brighten the days of deserving moms in the Austin neighborhood by distributing 400 gifts donated courtesy of Sugafina at Ella Flagg Elementary School. The school prepares 1,000 meals a day for families in need living in the surrounding community, which is among the city’s areas most severely impacted by the pandemic.

On Friday, May 8, the Daisie Foundation will honor moms at two area shelters by distributing 300 customized toiletry items and gifts donated courtesy of Sugarfina; first at Primo Center for Women and Children in Englewood at 10:30 AM, then at La Casa Norte in Humboldt Park at 11:45 AM.

In accordance with the CDC’s social distancing guidelines and governor Pritzker’s stay at home order, the Daisie Foundation made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s annual Mother’s Day Makeover. The event would have made a positive contribution to the lives of 800 moms who are experiencing homelessness, significant medical challenges, or the absence of loved ones serving in the US military. Over the past three years, through partnerships with 30 nonprofit organizations across the Midwest and beyond, the Daisie Foundation has provided 1,200 transformational makeovers for women in Chicago and Milwaukee facing various forms of adversity in their daily lives.
